About ICAI

 

 

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is a statutory body established by an Act of Parliament, viz. The Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 (Act No. XXXVIII of 1949) for regulation and development of the profession of Chartered Accountants in the country. As a statutory body regulating the profession of Chartered Accountancy in India, the ICAI has had a long and glorious history in its 75 years of existence as the largest professional body of Chartered Accountants in the world.

About Disciplinary Mechanism of ICAI

 

 

ICAI not only performs its statutory dues as a regulator of the profession of Chartered Accountancy in India by formulating Accounting Standards in keeping pace with changing economic-scenario but also has enforced the ethical values as enshrined in Code of Ethics and proactively taken action against its erring members, found guilty of professional misconduct through its well-defined disciplinary mechanism as provided under the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 and the Rules framed there under.

However, any complaint submitted online has mandatorily to be supplemented by taking a print out of the said E-form, signing the same and sending across in original along with the copy of the evidences in support of the allegations in triplicate to the “Director (Discipline), Disciplinary Directorate, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, 2nd and 3rd floor (Regulatory Block) ICAI Bhawan, 52, 53 & 54, Maharishi Valmiki Marg, Near Karkarduma Court Complex, Vishwas Nagar Extension, Shahdara, New Delhi-110032.” In absence of above compliance, the online complaint shall not be treated as being filed.
